Clem Kevekordes had a letter from John Benson, the man who sold Kay to the zoo. Miss K, he called her. The letter is addressed to "Dear Friend" but in closing he says "Regards to Mrs. Knecht". Clem had the original . I gave the original to the zoo sometime in the early 90's. On the second page are some instructions on how to care for Kay. Someone underlined them. I suspect Karl Knecht gave the letter to Clem. I dont know what the note means to see p21. Below is a photo of Benson from the Evansville Courier. I show the entire article at the bottom.
